When BethAnn was contacted about a position with The Execu|Search Group in 2015, she did not have any previous experience in the recruitment and staffing industry. However, as a job coach for individuals on the Autism Spectrum, she was passionate about helping people find career success. From empowering her clients to become independent at work to matching them with jobs based on their interests and skills, BethAnn loved many aspects of her role and was only willing to make a move if she found the right fit for her long term career goals. After getting the opportunity to meet with different divisions at The Execu|Search Group, BethAnn was immediately interested in joining our Health Services division since she could apply her skills to a new field, while continuing to help people. From the start of the process, BethAnn felt that Execu|Search was the right place for her. Since joining the Physician Recruitment team as an Associate, she has been promoted to a Director and was happy to share her story: On why she joined The Execu|Search Group… During the interview process with my current supervisor, she gave a very thorough explanation of what my growth path would look like during my first three years at Execu|Search. Being that she was transparent about the time it would take for me to advance within the company, I never felt like I was being oversold or over promised on anything. Since I didn’t have any industry experience, the group’s emphasis on training was also very important to me. I knew that I was not going to leave my previous position for anything less than ideal, so I wanted to do my due diligence to ensure I would be set up for success from the get-go. After meeting with various people at the company, I felt that my values aligned with the culture at Execu|Search and decided not to interview anywhere else! On what she loves about working here… There are a wide range of things that I love about working at Execu|Search, but something I really appreciate is the clear path to growth and success. From day one, I knew what would be expected of me in both the short and long term. As a result, I worked really hard to learn the business, master my daily responsibilities, and start billing so that I could work on the criteria needed for advancement. This hard work paid off and I was promoted to a Director in 18 months. While a lot of companies base promotions on tenure, Execu|Search prioritizes qualities such as initiative/drive, personal accountability, and leadership. However, my team played an integral role in my success. Their consistent support and feedback kept me motivated to do my best for not only myself, but our division as a whole. In a field that can be competitive, our team is anything but! This collegial environment is consistent across our various divisions, and in my opinion, is one of the main reasons why so many of us have built long-lasting careers with Execu|Search. On what she enjoys most about her job… The elements of my job that I enjoy most are similar to how I felt about Social Work. At the end of the day, recruiting is about relationship building. To find someone the best fit possible, I really have to meet people at their level by learning about their interests and past experiences. It also takes a bit of education and trust, which was what I loved so much about my previous position. On what she thinks sets her apart from others in this field… I like to spend time understanding what is important to my candidates before discussing any actual opportunities. While the job description, salary, and setting are all certainly important when job searching, I feel that I can’t fully serve my candidates if I don’t take factors, such as their professional goals and family considerations, into account. I never promise anyone that I can find them the perfect position, but I know that I can come pretty close if we keep the lines of communication open. Building this type of relationship takes trust, so I’m always honest with my candidates. Ultimately, this allows me to focus on identifying roles that would be the best long term fit for their unique needs.
