After 10 years as an account executive at another staffing firm in South Florida, John was ready for a change. While he still enjoyed the business development aspect of his role, he felt his career had hit a wall. In search of an opportunity that would allow him to manage a team and help build a business from the ground up, John started interviewing with different companies in 2015.
After meeting with The Execu|Search Group, John jumped at the opportunity to help launch an office in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Since this was the company’s first foray into this market, John leveraged his experience and knowledge of local trends to build the business and train new staff. Today, John manages a team of six and oversees three lines of business. With plans to expand our service offerings, John has a bright future with Execu|Search!

On why he joined The Execu|Search Group:
I met with a number of different companies during my job search, and ultimately chose Execu|Search for a number of reasons. Off the bat, I was attracted to the positive vibe I experienced when interviewing at the New York City office. As I progressed throughout the process, I was even more impressed. Never in my career had I witnessed an office of this magnitude, especially one that encouraged autonomy. In fact, this was one of the main factors that sold me on the company. Starting a new office so far away from headquarters can be a challenging process, but I reveled at the opportunity to build this office from the ground up. Most importantly, I knew that they trusted me with this responsibility. Not only did leadership encourage me to use my ideas and unique processes, but they also gave me the independence I needed to make a difference.
On what he loves about working here…
I feel very fortunate to be part of the Fort Lauderdale team. We’re a very close knit group that supports each other, both personally and professionally. We have created a feedback-rich environment that allows us to not only focus on not only the business, but also professional development.
Building a new office is not an easy endeavor. The entire group understands that success will not happen overnight, but rather through teamwork and perseverance. As a result, we all know we can turn to each other for help—something that reflects TESG’s overall culture.
On what he enjoys most about his job…
Developing relationships with potential clients and getting to learn more about their business goals is one thing that I really enjoy about my job. In a diverse market such as South Florida, it’s very interesting to visit different workplaces, speak to clients about a new initiative they’re rolling out, and learn about new products or service offerings. Since we work with companies across different industries, one staffing solution is not going to work for all of them. Customizing our services to meet each client’s individual needs is something that keeps me on my toes.
I also love managing and coaching my team. Seeing my colleagues find success, or attain goals that they once thought were impossible are two of the most rewarding aspects of my role. A lot of people have helped get me to where I am today, and I feel that I have an obligation to do my best to mentor those around me.
On what he thinks sets him apart from others in the field…
I am extremely passionate about what I do and take a lot of pride in my work. My clients and the office know that I am accessible 24/7, and that I will do my best to resolve their challenges and accomplish their goals. I live by the mantra that, “we are in the business of offering solutions, not creating problems,” and try to instill this in my team whenever I can.
I believe that I have created a work environment based on transparency and trust. My hope is that my team is inspired by my work ethic, and views me as someone who they can approach with questions, concerns, and ideas.
