Your mind is racing. Your heart is jumping. You feel uncomfortable, nervous and sweaty.
Interviews may feel like an interrogation, but they are not. Many of my candidates worry about what they are going to say during an interview, however, few of them realize that body language is also extremely important! Professionalism can be most effectively demonstrated through verbal AND nonverbal communication.

First Impressions Are Lasting…
Many hiring managers can tell if someone will be a “right fit” just based on first impressions, so make yours a good one! Pull yourself together PRIOR to meeting the hiring manager. This means checking your teeth, readjusting your tie, smoothing out any wrinkles and making sure your resume is ready to go! These things should be done in the car or at home.
Hand Shake
Make sure you confidently grasp your interviewer’s hand, but do not shake too firmly! You don’t want to bruise your interviewer. Be sure to make eye contact with the interviewer and smile, too!
Control Your Nerves!
Any sort of rocking, scratching, or fidgeting will make you look like you’re the type of employee who can’t stay focused. Make sure you sit up straight and lean slightly forward.
Be Excited… B-E Excited!
Show your enthusiasm by keeping an interested expression and maintaining eye contact. Enthusiasm always goes a long way! It will show your interviewer, not only that you are the best person for the job, but that you are also an enjoyable person to be around!
