The business-oriented social networking site, LinkedIn, has just launched a new feature to college students from 60 universities across the United States named “Career Explorer”. Students will be permitted to investigate numerous career paths based on his or her school, level of education, and the industry they are interested in pursuing post-graduation. This new addition will walk them through a visualization process for several careers and show them several job openings that LinkedIn members have available in that market, as well as expected salary ranges and the people in their network that might be able to lend a hand.
If that isn’t enough, LinkedIn has also given students the ability to learn more about the industry that they want to join; everything from companies to trends. Over the past several months, LinkedIn’s features have become more social. Although LinkedIn isn’t quite social enough to replace college advisors, it has been adding a bit more ease into students’ lives. In the end, both students and LinkedIn will have benefitted greatly from this update. This is a chance for the website to develop long-term relationships with its users.
