In today’s competitive job market, IT Professionals can get lost in the sea of job postings that they find on job boards, Facebook and other websites. While many IT Professionals have specific primary and secondary skills, their goal should be to capitalize on their primary skill set.
In order to seek out opportunities with a keen eye towards technology/skill/position advancement, IT job seekers at all levels should closely review job requirements and consider the folllowing:
- Am I qualified for this opportunity?
- Does this opportunity utilize technology that I am able to learn?
If the answer to both of these questions is “YES,” then this is a win-win approach to identifying the right opportunity.
Maximize the return on your efforts by focusing on those questions BEFORE you spend time submitting a cover letter and resume. It will create mutual interest, because employers want qualified employees who can make an immediate impact.
