How Execu|Search Put Me To Work: Maria Pina

Stephanie

This is part of a series of testimonials from candidates who have successfully been placed by The Execu|Search Group. This testimonial comes from Maria Pina; you can find our past testimonials here.

When Maria Pina, a registered nurse, partnered with The Execu|Search Group, she wanted to make the transition into a HEDIS role. Although she had a background in compliance and quality assurance, her lack of HEDIS experience made it difficult to secure a position on her own. After connecting with Rebecca Guerrero, a Staffing Manager within The Execu|Search Group’s Health Services division, Maria decided to take a chance and leave her job for a temporary position that paid less, but would allow her to learn new skills.

Although she is only halfway through her assignment as a HEDIS Abstractor, Maria has grown to love the organization—developing a strong relationship with her supervisor along the way. Her dedication to this role has led the company to trust her with specialty projects and as a mentor to new hires. Continue reading to learn more about Maria’s positive experience…

On her background…

After being an educator in New York for 15 years, I relocated to Florida and decided to enter the medical profession. This ten-year journey began with a position in medical records doing transcription, but I ultimately discovered a passion for nursing. During this time, I earned degrees in both Nursing and Health Information Management (HIM), taught HIM at the college level, and became certified in healthcare compliance. My path finally led me to healthcare quality, where I have been able to apply my unique combination of skills to improve the healthcare experience for individuals as well as the community at large.

On what she was looking for…

I wanted to continue to work in healthcare quality improvement to help people get the best possible care. Since managed care is a setting that helps educate patients on their available options, receive preventive services, and understand how to manage illness to ultimately achieve optimal wellness, I felt that it was a natural fit for my next career move.

On how TESG worked to meet her needs…

My recruiter, Rebecca, not only listened to my goals, but she also understood how my diverse blend of skills came together to position me as the perfect fit for my current role. She encouraged me every step of the way and has consistently checked in with me to ensure all is going well.

On preparing for the interview…

Rebecca not only advised me on the smallest of details, but she also reviewed topics I should be prepared to address. I believe that her advice to end the session with a particular set of questions is what helped me clinch the job.

On her overall experience…

This is the first job that Execu|Search has helped place me in, and it has been such a positive experience! They not only helped find me a position that aligned with my career goals, but connected me with an employer that has allowed me to expand my skills. Once my assignment nears its end, I’m excited to work with Execu|Search regarding next steps.

“I knew that Maria was passionate about helping people from the beginning of our communication,” says Rebecca. “Making a career change is not always easy, but her dedication paid off. By keeping the lines of communication open, we were able to identify positions that would allow her to achieve her career goals. She continuously impresses me and those she works with. I’ve only received positive feedback about Maria, and I look forward to partnering with her on future endeavors.”
