Last week, we hosted our inaugural continuing education course for therapy providers! The introductory level course, School-Based Therapy Essentials, aimed to educate PTs/PTAs, OTs/OTAs, and SLPs on providing therapy services in a school setting.
The course was led by Mindy Booth (OTR/L), Senior Director of Clinical Services for The Execu|Search Group’s Health Services division, and Shourin Roy, RPT. During the workshop, Mindy and Shourin discussed the following objectives:
- The critical components of IEPs and how to utilize organizational tools to foster collaboration in a school-based setting;
- The components of SMART goals and how to demonstrate the ability to generate educationally appropriate goals;
- Grading activities in order to meet the needs of students with varied functional skills and areas of delay or dysfunction.
If you are a therapy provider interested in exploring a career in pediatrics, this course will be offered again on September 20th. For more details, please reach out to Mindy at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Earlier this year, The Execu|Search Group was approved by the New York State Physical Therapy Board and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) as a continuing education provider. “This was the first of many AOTA and NY State Education Department approved courses that we will be leading throughout the year,” says Mindy. “All physical therapists and occupational therapists who participate in these classes will receive continuing education credit. For SLPs, who are employed through Execu|Search, all of our courses count as professional development credit for maintaining their ASHA Certification.”
